RIP Charlie Parker/Jazz Standard CD Release Show

HI Friends,

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the passing of alto saxophonist  Charlie Parker, a true icon of modern music.

I intentionally released Bird Calls this year to commemorate both this date and his 95th birthday which will occur in August.

We tried to align our CD release show with today's date and ended up coming close.  If you live in NYC, please join us at th Jazz Standard on March 24 as we celebrate not only this album but more importantly the legacy left unto us by this amazingly innovative individual.  Tickets are available here.  For this date we'll be joined by trumpeter Adam O'Farrill and bassist François Moutin who both played on the album as well pianist Bobby Avey and drummer Jordan Perlson.

If you have not heard the album, it's streaming on my brand spakin' newwebsite.  Just click on the player in the menu bar.

The response thus far has been wonderful.  Here are a few nice reviews from the Chicago TribunePopMattersJazzTimes, and New York Times.  You can grab Bird Calls on Amazon and iTunes.  We even made some vinyl this time.

Thanks as always for reading.  Please take a moment to hold Charlie Parker in your heart today.

Best Wishes,
Rudresh
